Why families choose our bilingual primary school

1

Bilingual Education

Our experienced teachers consistently speak in their respective mother tongue, either German or English, allowing the children to naturally learn both languages.

2

Two teachers per class

  1. Your child learns in small classes which are accompanied by two educational professionals, ensuring both high-quality teaching and individual support.

3

Group and project work for greater self-confidence

  1. We encourage our students to become independent learners by integrating regular group and project work into the lessons.

4

Focus on STEM subjects

Through hands-on experiments and innovative teaching methods, we inspire children to engage with the world of numbers and scientific phenomena from an early age.

5

Activities

  1. We offer a wide range of extracurricular programmes. The children participate in a wide range of creative and sporting activities offered in our afternoon programme. Courses and clubs are tailored to individual preferences.

Important questions
about our bilingual primary school

  • Do children need to speak English before entering Year 1?

No, but they should be fluent in at least one of the two languages of instruction (German or English).

  • What is KERMIT?

Since the 2012/13 school year, all Hamburg primary schools, district schools and secondary schools have been carrying out standardised tests under the motto ‘Identifying competencies’ - KERMIT.

KERMIT is used to determine the extent to which pupils' academic performance meets the requirements of the national educational standards and Hamburg's educational plans. The test results inform teachers about the subject-related strengths and weaknesses of their learning groups. The Quality Assurance and Evaluation Department of the Hamburg Institute for Educational Monitoring and Quality Development (IfBQ) is responsible for carrying out KERMIT. The tests are also analysed here and the results are reported back to the schools. Parents who would like to know their child's KERMIT results can obtain this information directly from the school.

  • What is CIPP?

The Cambridge International Primary Programme (CIPP) is an internationally recognised educational certificate from Cambridge Assessment International Education.

It prepares students for life and helps them to develop a well-founded curiosity and an enduring passion for learning. We are part of the University of Cambridge.

Our international qualifications are recognised by the world's top universities and employers, opening up a wide range of opportunities for students in their education and careers. As a not-for-profit organisation, we dedicate our resources to delivering high quality educational programmes that can unlock learners' potential.

  • Are there application deadlines?

There is no fixed application deadline. We also accept children during the year if places are available.

  • What are the costs of attending school?

The monthly tuition fee is EUR 250. An additional EUR 5 per month is charged for materials and EUR 100 per month for meals. In addition, an income-based contribution is charged for our support association. In the 2026/2027 school year, this amounts to 0.325% of the family's gross annual income from the calendar year before last, up to a maximum of EUR 812.50 per month.

Additional childcare services can be booked as an option. Early and late childcare costs EUR 30 per month for one additional hour of childcare per day. After-school clubs range from around EUR 22 to EUR 40 per month, depending on the offer. Vacation care from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. costs EUR 120 per vacation week.

    Are there reductions?

For families with several children at a Phorms campus, a sibling discount of 25% to 75% is granted on the school fees and the support association fee. Families with an income of less than EUR 40,000 in the calendar year before last can also apply for reduced tuition fees.

Under certain conditions, it is also possible to apply for benefits via Bildung und Teilhabe (BuT). Further information can be found here.
